Spiritual Gifts Series: Administration & Leadership

God’s Blueprint Builders and Visionary Guides

Have you ever noticed how some people just know how to organize things—and others instinctively know how to move people toward a goal? These two gifts—Administration and Leadership—are like the blueprint and the compass. Together, they help the church run effectively and grow purposefully.

🧩 Gift of Administration: The Detail Designer

Definition:
This gift is the Spirit-empowered ability to organize, coordinate, and manage people and resources to accomplish God’s work with excellence. You’re the one who sees how everything fits together—and gets it done.

Key Scripture:

“And God has appointed in the church... those with gifts of helping, of guidance...”
1 Corinthians 12:28 (NIV, “guidance” = kubernēsis, literally "steering a ship")

Biblical Examples:

  • Joseph (Genesis 41): Rose to manage Egypt’s resources during famine.

  • Nehemiah: Strategically coordinated the rebuilding of Jerusalem’s wall.

Modern Applications:

  • Serve as a church coordinator (VBS, events, service teams).

  • Oversee budgets or planning committees.

  • Schedule volunteers, manage resources, or maintain church systems.

  • Help ministries grow by keeping them on track and on mission.

Your Impact:
When you serve with administrative skill, you remove chaos and create clarity—enabling others to focus on the ministry itself.

🧭 Gift of Leadership: The Vision Carrier

Definition:
The spiritual gift of leadership is the ability to cast vision, inspire others, and guide God’s people with courage and clarity. You help others see what could be—and motivate them to pursue it.

Key Scripture:

“If it is to lead, do it diligently.”
Romans 12:8

Biblical Examples:

  • Moses: Led God’s people through the wilderness, even when it was hard.

  • Paul: Led churches, mentored leaders, and pursued God’s mission with passion.

Modern Applications:

  • Lead a small group, youth ministry, or discipleship track.

  • Chair a committee, serve on a board, or help cast vision for new outreach.

  • Mentor others and develop emerging leaders.

  • Unite people behind God-given goals and help navigate challenges.

Your Impact:
Leaders with this gift don’t just maintain—they mobilize. You help the church move forward with focus and faith.

🔗 How They Work Together

Administration creates the structure; Leadership provides the direction. One ensures things run well, the other ensures they’re headed somewhere good. When both gifts operate in harmony, the church becomes an unstoppable, Spirit-led force of unity and purpose.

Jesus in Creation Most people associate Jesus’ work with the cross, but did you know that He was present at creation? John 1:1-3 tells us that Jesus (the Word) was with God in the beginning and that "through Him all things were made." Paul confirms this in Colossians 1:16, saying that "all ...
