Spiritual Gifts Series: Faith & Intercession

Trusting Boldly, Praying Faithfully

Some people just seem to believe God without hesitation—no matter the challenge. Others have a relentless passion to pray for the needs of others. The gifts of Faith and Intercession may be quiet, but they carry supernatural strength. These are the gifts that shake the heavens and stir the church to action.

๐Ÿ™ Gift of Faith: The Unshakable Believer

Definition:
The gift of faith is the Spirit-enabled ability to trust God deeply and consistently, even in the face of trials, obstacles, or impossibilities. It’s more than general belief—it’s a spiritual confidence that inspires others to trust Him too.

Key Scripture:

“…to another faith by the same Spirit…”
1 Corinthians 12:9

Biblical Examples:

  • Abraham: Believed God’s promise of a son even when it seemed humanly impossible (Romans 4).

  • Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: Trusted God even as they faced a fiery furnace (Daniel 3).

Modern Applications:

  • Lead or serve in a prayer or healing ministry.

  • Encourage others in times of crisis or uncertainty.

  • Speak life and courage into big faith-steps—new buildings, missions, church plants, etc.

  • Model trust in God’s provision and timing.

Your Impact:
You help others believe again. Your faith becomes a spiritual anchor in the storm.

๐Ÿ› Gift of Intercession: The Prayer Warrior

Definition:
This gift is a Spirit-given passion and persistence to pray on behalf of others. Intercessors often feel the burdens of others deeply and pray with intensity and love until breakthrough comes.

Key Scripture:

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions… with all kinds of prayers and requests… be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”
Ephesians 6:18

Biblical Examples:

  • Moses: Pleaded with God to spare Israel after their rebellion (Exodus 32).

  • Epaphroditus: Prayed fervently for others in the early church (Colossians 4:12).

Modern Applications:

  • Join or lead a prayer team or chain.

  • Intercede for your church, leaders, or global missions.

  • Offer to pray with others in real-time, not just privately.

  • Keep a prayer journal and commit to long-term petitions.

Your Impact:
You stand in the gap for others—bringing their needs before the throne of grace when they can’t.

๐Ÿ”— How They Work Together

Faith fuels intercession. Intercession strengthens faith. One believes boldly; the other prays persistently. Together, they help the church rise up in courage and call on God for greater things.

Jesus in Creation Most people associate Jesus’ work with the cross, but did you know that He was present at creation? John 1:1-3 tells us that Jesus (the Word) was with God in the beginning and that "through Him all things were made." Paul confirms this in Colossians 1:16, saying that "all ...
